Thanksgiving
It’s that time of the year again, so let’s be proper and talk about what we’re thankful for.
I’m thankful for open-source software. Lord knows I’m getting tired of writing every piece of code. Let’s let some other people build the free tools we use, and we can complain about them later.
I’m thankful for water. I’ll probably never be able to enjoy the dubious amounts of caffeine that you all do, so this is my substitute. Keeps you awake at 6am (whether just getting to work, or just about to leave…) and keeps you alive.
I’m thankful for adrenaline. I was going to say cars, but you can get the same enjoyment from go-carts, roller coasters, sky diving (haven’t yet, but I bet I will one of these years), and taking online surveys. Gotta love opinion polls!
I’m thankful for the sun. It’s tiny, but I can’t think of anything that’s put more effort into my life. You know it keeps this place warm, right? Gotta love it.
I’m thankful for the web. It’s been keeping me employed for a few years, but on the more selfless side, it’s helping to disseminate information to even some of the most impoverished peoples. Cheap, accurate information is going to provide a fundamental shift in our world, as it already has in our country.
And of course I’m thankful for my family, friends, coworkers, teachers, brewmasters, cooks, servers; What the heck, the whole population. Thanks for existing - and good work.
Now it’s your turn - comment or post back, your choice!
